One of my first entries on this blog was about my love of Tim Hortons, and how they, one of my favorites comforts from home in Michigan had left, just weeks prior to my arrival here in Southern Afghanistan.
Well, it took 5 months, but I finally had the opportunity to sip Tim Hortons coffee with my breakfast! Thanks to my wonderful wife, I am now the coffee supply guy for our squad. We are now equipped with the finest coffee the midwest has to offer--Tim Hortons, Biggby, and Caribou!
Watch out Taliban, you thought we were scary before, just wait until you see us caffeinated!
Also, thanks to everyone who replied to my plea for money to the Wounded Warrior Project. To date, this blog has accounted for $10,025 in donations from 65 people. That is double what I had hoped to raise. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart!
Until next time...
Chris
Hi Chris,
ReplyDeleteIt's great to hear you're doing well. Words cannot express just how thankful I am for you and your fellow troops, doing the unthinkable for the freedom and safety of millions of people you have never met. Thank you seems so small in the context of something so great but it is also not said enough so thank you for your bravery, your service and your unwavering patriotism (especially for Detroit :)).
You probably don't remember me but I manage the gymnastics team Julie keeps well and strong, and I'm also from Detroit. Congratulations on not only meeting your goal but doubling the donation for the Wounded Warriors Project, I'm working on getting GW as well as the team involved in contributing even more. We'll help Julie count down the days until you come home safe. :)
WIth the utmost gratitude,
Amanda Andreski
